Abstract
Problem solving is seen as an important competency to be successful in a rapidly changing world with steadily increasing complexity. It is, therefore, not surprising that problem solving has recently gained importance especially in educational-psychological research. In order to keep pace with this development, the current editorial to the special issue "Problem Solving in Educational Psychology" gives an overview of different concepts of problem solving as well as current research topics, before the contributions of the special issue are introduced. The aim of the editorial is, on the one hand, to present the breadth as well as current developments of problem solving research within the educational-psychological context, on the other hand, to emphasize the potential for future research and to lay out concrete steps towards a comprehensive research agenda.
