Abstract
The author describes and discusses the research field of human ethology in its different theoretical variants and wide-ranging conclusions. The crucial question is that of the development and the basis of moral patterns of cognition and of action. The significance of naturalistic deterministic explanations for traditional and modem pedagogical thinking is examined.
