Abstract

Industry 4.0 technologies offer global manufacturing companies the opportunity to improve network design decisions and synchronize production control worldwide. This enables a sustainable increase in the degree of value added in production and the exploitation of cost advantages. In practice, however, it has been shown that implementation is a long way off. By subdividing the vision of a transparent and agile network into phased and parallelized sub-projects, direct value added for employees and companies can be achieved at all working levels, while at the same time contributing to the overall development. This article shows concrete steps in the areas of strategy, design and management of production networks.
