Abstract

Recently, the nutrition of children has established as a new field of pedagogical-institutional duty in German kindergartens and primary schools. This leads to changes in the child care and, as such, to changes in the constitution of childhood. Against this background, the article analyses group discussions held with pedagogues working in kindergartens and primary schools on the topic of nutrition. It examines how pedagogues perceive the nutrition of kindergarten- and schoolchildren and how they conceptualize education and care responsibility within the frame of parental and pedagogical-institutional child care.
