Changes in the Work Situation and Attitudes in East-germany After the Introduction of Capitalism

Abstract

A longitudinal study with three wavewne directly after the introduction of the West German Mark in East-Germany in July 1990, one around the elections of reunited Germany in November, December 1990 and one in July 1991-waa done with a representative sample from Dresden (N=600). Working conditions, attitudes toward change (like optimism, pre- paredness for change, etc.) and actions taken were ascertained by interviews and question- naires. The changes amss time and recipro- cal causal influencea of these variables are presented for the total sample and subgroups (e.g. unemployed)
