Abstract
Das Bildungssystem wuchs in Preußen und der alten Bundesrepublik in den letzten 200 Jahren in vier regelmäßigen Schüben der relativen Bildungsbeteiligung, denen jeweils Stagnationsphasen folgten. Seit etwa 1990 befinden wir uns wieder in einer Stagnationsphase. Diese langen Wellen des Bildungswachstums bedeuten einen Öffnungstrend der Bildungsselektion, der einherging mit einer spezifischen Art und Weise der schubweisen Differenzierung und Individualisierung der Bildungskarrieren und der entsprechend periodischen Integration des Schulsystems.
