    Abstract

The European Union (EU), formerly known as the European Community (EC), is one of the world’s largest economic conglomerates. The EU encompasses some of the world’s most industrialized nations, some of which have influenced developments in the field of environmental education. A number of recent developments in Europe are of interest but not readily known to the international community. This article focuses on some of the recent developments in environmental education in Europe, particularly some of the needs that must be met in promoting environmental education. © 1996 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
