Description
Water management and the water landscape have an elementary function and provide indispensable ecosystem services for our society. Climate change and the inherently heterogeneous and distributed structures of water management call for digitization in water management to ensure the security of supply and quality of the resource water in the future and to significantly improve the handling of extreme situations. As a result, there is an acute need for intelligent systems and digital solutions along all stages of digitalization maturity in this area.
The aim of Zukunftslabor Wassermanagement (ZLW) is the nationwide coordination and innovation promotion of digitalization solutions for all areas of water management, from the Harz Mountains to the coast, from urban to rural environments, from surface waters to groundwater. The implementation of a future lab in this consortium enables a far-reaching, cross-disciplinary exchange. In particular, the networking of different Lower Saxon actors offers an enormous utilization and transfer potential of water management research and development competences and, moreover, a high degree of effectiveness.
