    Project Details

    Description

Within a 3-year cooperation the Universidad Técnica del Norte (Ibarra, Ecuador) and the Institute for Environmental and Sustainability Communication at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg (Germany) are developing and evaluating a 1-year teacher-training, aiming at the integration of sustainability in the Higher Education Curriculum. Furthermore, didactical approaches and methods like problem-orientation, inter- and transdisciplinarity will be in the focus of the program. As a long-term goal the Universidad Técnica del Norte strives for a Master “Sustainability”. An exchange of staff and students complements the project. Aim of the project is an improvement and ongoing development of the courses on offer at the Universidad Técnica del Norte by systematically integrating the concept of sustainable development in the curriculum as well as introducing learning approaches which are enabling a student oriented learning and competence development. The project contributes to the overall goal to educate trained employees in the field of environmental and sustainability science and cultivates a continuing dialogue and exchange of experiences between both Universities.
