Curriculum

Nepomuk Wahl unterstützt seit April 2011 das interdisziplinäre Forschungsteam als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter und Doktorand. Noch während seiner Studienzeit arbeitete er 2007 erst als Praktikant, dann als Agronom für die Ölproduktionsfirma D1 Oils in Madagaskar. Hier war er verantwortlich für die Zusammenarbeit mit Kleinbauern in einer der drei Kleinbauern-Regionen. Mit Unterstützung der Beratungsgruppe Entwicklungsorientierte Agrarforschung (BEAF) der Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) war er außerdem am World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) in Kenia und Tansania beschäftigt. Während seines Feldaufenthaltes in Nord-Tansania sammelte er Daten für eine ökonomische Kosten-Nutzen-Analyse des kleinbäuerlichen Jatropha-Anbaus. Zuletzt unterstützte er die Ernährungs- und Landwirtschaftsorganisation der Vereinten Nationen (FAO) in Rom bei der Weiterentwicklung der Austausch-Plattform TECA für Akteure der ländlichen Entwicklung.

Research interests

Within the Platform, Nepomuk focuses on social sustainability. His major research topic is the sustainable inclusion of small and medium-scale farmers in developing and emerging economies. Nepomuk is also looking at other critical social sustainability issues such as food security as well as income and wages.
