Curriculum
Miira Hill is a sociologist and postdoctoral researcher at Leuphana College. Since 2018, she has been coordinating the interdisciplinary module "Science Uses Methods" for which she develops perspectives on the history and theory of science as well as methods. She studied sociology, technical environmental protection and psychology in Stuttgart, Bielefeld, San Francisco and Berlin and did her doctorate on contemporary communication and legitimation practices of science in transdisciplinary science communication at the Technical University of Berlin in the field of general sociology (title: Slamming Science. The New Art Of Old Public Science Communication; Scientific debate in 2016; Supervisors: Prof. Dr. Hubert Knoblauch and Prof. Dr. Martin Reinhart). In her thesis, she applied and worked on theories of sociology of knowledge, feminist approaches to science and technology studies as well as innovation research. After earning her doctoral degree, Miira Hill was a part of the interdisciplinary research training group "Innovation Society Today" at the TU Berlin.
For many years she has been teaching in the fields of emotion sociology, sociology of religion, social theory, qualitative and visual methods, history of science, history of sexuality and visual communication. She is currently researching on the relationship between science and the public in the context of digital societies and related developments at German universities, especially in the field of digital humanities and digitally mediated methods.
