Marcus Burkhardt is a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Digital Cultures at Leuphana University Lüneburg. Currently he is head of the Hybrid Publishing Lab and an af­fi­lia­te at Di­gi­tal Cul­tu­res Re­se­arch Lab at Leu­pha­na Uni­ver­si­ty Lüne­burg. His academic background is in media studies, philosophy and computer science. He conducted his Ph.D. in the International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture at Justus Liebig-University Giessen on the media history and theory of digital databases. Beside his current work on the future of scholarly publishing in the humanities his research focuses on the transformations of knowledge in the age of Big Data and on algorithmic environments.
