Personal profile

Curriculum

I am a scientist with a multi-disciplinary background in engineering and environmental sciences. I obtained my Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Chile, followed by a Master's degree in Environmental Sanitation and a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences and Technology, both from Ghent University, Belgium.

During my doctoral studies, I focused on investigating the social metabolism of cobalt within the European Union. My research utilized both static and dynamic material flow analysis techniques to comprehensively understand the flow and distribution of cobalt in societal systems. After my Ph.D., I was a postdoctoral researcher at Ghent University, where I contributed mainly to two projects: CTO (Circular Transition of Offshore Wind Energy) and RecyLIB. In these roles, I specialized in material flow analysis and circular economy indicators, exploring innovative approaches to sustainable resource utilization and waste management.

Currently, I am engaged in the MaSES project at Leuphana University, focusing on assessing ecological sufficiency levels of consumption for Germany and the global community. The research employs input-output analysis to evaluate the environmental impacts of consumption patterns and identify pathways towards more sustainable consumption practices.

I am an active participant in academic conferences, and I am a member of the EDITS network, contributing her expertise to collaborative efforts aimed at advancing the research on demand-side solutions for climate mitigation and the SDGs.
