Curriculum
Christian J. Tams ist seit 2022 nebenberuflicher Professor für Völkerrecht und das Recht der internationalen Streitbeilegung an der Leuphana. Er ist zugleich Professor für Völkerrecht an der Universität Glasgow, wo er das Glasgow Centre for International Law and Security (GCILS) leitet. Christian J. Tams hat in Deutschland (Kiel) und Frankreich (Lyon) Rechtswissenschaften studiert, in Großbritannien (Cambridge) im Bereich des Völkerrechts promoviert und in Hamburg seinen juristisches Referendariat absolviert. Vor seinem Wechsel nach Glasgow war er zwischen 2005 und 2009 an der Christian-Albrechts-Universität in Kiel tätig.
Als Wissenschaftler wie auch rechtsberatend arbeitet Christian J. Tams zu Fragen des Völkerrechts, so etwa dem Investitionsschutz (und seinen Grenzen), dem Recht der Vereinten Nationen und der Rolle internationaler Gerichte. Er ist Mitglied des Rates der European Society of International Law und der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Internationales Recht, der Redaktion des European Journal of International Law und einer der Herausgeber des European Yearbook of International Law.
