Curriculum
Boris Hirsch (born 1981) has been Full Professor (W3) of Economics, in particular Microeconometrics and Policy Evaluation at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg since August 2016. From 2001‒2006 he studied economics at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and from 2004‒2006 mathematics at the University of Hagen. From 2006‒2009 he was PhD student and foundationer of the Bavarian Graduate Program in Economics. In 2009, he received his doctorate degree from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg where he was postdoctoral researcher from 2009‒2016.
His research interests lie in the theory and empirics of imperfectly competitive labour markets, empirical labour economics, and industrial relations. His research appeared in outlets such as the Economic Journal, the Journal of Labor Economics, the Journal of Human Resources, and the ILR Review. He serves as an editor to the German Economic Review and as an associate editor the Journal for Labour Market Research and is Research Fellow of the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH), of the Labor and Socio-Economic Research Center (LASER) at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, and of the IZA Institute of Labor Economics (IZA) as well as co-opted member and deputy chairperson of the Standing Field Committee of Labour and Population Economics of the Verein für Socialpolitik (VfS).
