Organisation profile

The Center for Empirical Educational Research in Lower Saxony (ZEB) is the first central hub for empirical educational research in Lower Saxony's higher education landscape. The center's main task is to apply scientific findings from empirical educational research to develop future-oriented school and education policies in Lower Saxony. Through the practical implementation of innovative concepts, the ZEB contributes to the continuous improvement of the education system's quality.

ZEB was founded jointly by Leuphana University of Lüneburg and Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University Hannover. The collaboration is to be extended to further universities and educational institutions across Lower Saxony.

Main research areas

ZEB members conduct research and teach in the areas of educational measurement, educational monitoring, and educational innovation and change at the participating universities. Complementary activities focus on educational trajectories and educational equity. ZEB is currently establishing three professorships and two junior professorships for these research areas.
