Description
The Center for International Comparative Education Studies (ZIB) e.V. is an affiliated institute of the Technical University of Munich (TUM). It was founded in October 2010 by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (now BMBFSFJ) and the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder in the Federal Republic of Germany (KMK). It is funded by the federal government and the 16 states. Its goal is to establish high-level international educational research and to make a significant contribution to quality assurance in education.
The ZIB is based at four renowned research institutions in Germany: the Technical University of Munich (TUM), the Leibniz Institute for Research and Information in Education (DIPF) in Frankfurt am Main, the Leibniz Institute for Science and Mathematics Education (IPN) in Kiel, and the Institute for Quality Development in Education (IQB) in Berlin.
Through the close integration of the ZIB working groups into their respective institutes, the center benefits from their specialized expertise, thereby creating a strong interdisciplinary research foundation. Each location has its own areas of focus.
