Use of the VLE in the construction of formative experiences in a critical socio-environmental perspective. In this article, it is described the development,
use, and evaluation of a virtual learning environment to complement two presential classes on a Chemistry Teacher Training course. The discussion was based on Walter Benjamin’s writings, investigating the potentialities and limitations of the Moodle platform to construct chemical knowledge in a critical socioenvironmental perspective. Through the content analysis, the posts on forums and the tool assessment were studied. It was found that the use of these sources prompted emancipatory praxis, but that cannot be conceived far from the historical and social student’s context, since the virtual environment does not stimulate the discussion, the student’s engagement, and dialogic construction when used for an end in itself.
