Abstract
A short definition of an assessment center (AC) is: Several participants are observed by several assessors during several exercises. The AC method is used by human resource management (HRM) for the selection of applicants, e.g., of graduates for entry positions, the promotion of employees into managerial positions, or the identification of individual development plans for personal strengths and development needs of managers. Besides the classical group AC, different forms of ACs are in use, such as individual assessment, assessment of management potential, intercultural AC, or development assessment centers. ACs are a diagnostic method of wide international use.
